Top 5 Incredible Heart-Pumping Activities

1. Skydiving

What would an adrenaline junkie’s bucket-list be without a dose of good old skydiving?  There are few things more unnatural than leaping out of a plane into thin air, and, if you haven’t tried skydiving, it’s time to take a deep breath and step out of your comfort zone.

Don’t worry, we won’t make you do it solo – find a diving school with experienced, well-trained instructors, and all you’ll have to do is sit back (fall back?) and enjoy the sensation of plummeting towards the ground at between 200 and 500 kph.

2. Zip-lining

While it’s not as terrifying as skydiving, that first step off the platform is pretty scary.

Maybe it’s the thought of speeding down a steel cable at 70 kph.

Maybe it’s the realisation that there’s only a single carabiner between you and certain death.

Maybe it’s the fact that you have to do this one completely on your own.

Any of those sound familiar?  No?  Then you need to start zip-lining ASAP!

The wind in your face, the harsh-throated buzz of the pulley, that awesome feeling of flying – they’re definitely not sensations you want to miss!

3. Bungee Jumping

It’s possible that bungee jumping is even scarier than skydiving – at least you’ve got a long way to fall from the plane.  When you step off a bridge with a cord wrapped around your ankle, the ground seems to come towards you terrifyingly fast!

Our advice?  If this is your first time, don’t hesitate.  You’ll start realising what a bad idea leaping into thin air is, and then you’ll end up frozen to the platform, awaiting rescue from a patient staff member.

4. Shark Cage Diving

Okay, it’s not really a typical ‘high and fast’ heart-pumping activity, but we’re pretty sure staring into the cold, black eyes of a lethal predator will get your heart-rate skyrocketing.

There’s nothing like being submerged beneath the waves with only a few steel bars between you and a mouthful of pointy teeth to remind you how awesome your life actually is.

The good news is, shark cages are completely safe, so you can observe wild sharks up close, and get a few great photos with that underwater camera you bought.

5. V8 Race Car Driving

High?  Not so much.  Fast?  Oh, yeah.  If you’re secretly a rev-head, it’s time to put on a jumpsuit, strap on a helmet, and settle into the cockpit of a V8 race car.

As you speed around the track in a blur of carbon fibre and rubber, practice your cornering Tokyo Drift-style, or try to outdo your family and friends with sheer, adrenalised speed.

If you’re not really a great driver, that’s okay – you can still get your heart pumping by riding shotgun with a professional.
